Knowledge Transfer Partnerships: making ideas happen

If you have an idea for your business but do not have all the in-house expertise needed to develop it, a Knowledge Transfer Partnership gives you access to a university and a suitably-qualified graduate to help make it a reality.

You get dedicated specialist expertise in your company for the duration of the project, and support from university academic staff. The scheme pays 67% of the cost, with the business contributing the remainder.

KTPs have been helping businesses innovate for growth for over 40 years and are proven to drive business growth. On average, businesses taking part in a KTP project see:

  • £113k one-off increase in net profit during the programme
  • projected increase of over £1 million in annual profits before tax
  • the creation of two new jobs
  • increase in skills of existing staff.

Taking about his KTP experience, Kevin Simpson, Technical Director of European Thermodynamics Ltd says:

“The KTP scheme is a perfect fit for us and gives us the opportunity to access the know-how we need to push the business forward. Other opportunities to collaborate with the University of Brighton in other areas are already being generated, so we look forward to seeing how our partnership develops and grows.”
