Ceres Power

Ceres Power is a world leading developer of next generation fuel cell technology. To help maintain their position as a world leader in an emerging market, Ceres worked with the our South East hub, University of Brighton, and the Centre for Automotive Engineering.

Making West Sussex more climate resilient

West Sussex County Council are committed to reaching net zero carbon emissions by 2030. As a key theme in their Council Plan, the council believes all governments have a duty to limit the negative impacts of climate change. To help meet targets, two University of Brighton students completed a Masters Student Environment Placement Scheme.

Stickland Wright

Stickland Wright are an integrated architecture and interior design practice, delivering bespoke and innovative designs which span across residential, commercial, hospitality and retail projects, nationally and internationally. Working with the University of Brighton’s Green Growth Platform, the company was awarded a LoCASE Business Development grant.

Tottington Manor

Tottington Manor Hotel sits in the South Downs, West Sussex. The business is on a mission to reduce their GHG emissions, and have secured funding with support from our South East hub, the University of Brighton’s Green Growth Platform.

Brighton Gin

Brighton Gin is a first-class gin distillery based in Brighton Hove. The company needed to improve the energy efficiency of their new manufacturing premises, and a LoCASE business development grant helped them do it.

Green Bell Packaging Ltd

Green Bell Packaging are an innovative Liverpool business, developing alternative packaging from naturally degradable materials such as starch, vegetable oil and seaweed.

Enspec

Enspec are one of the UK’s leading independent specialists in power quality engineering. They’re working with our North Hub, Liverpool John Moores University, to build a carbon reduction tool.

British Hovercraft Company

The British Hovercraft Company is the world’s largest manufacturer of recreational and small commercial hovercraft. They’re on a mission to bring the world’s first sustainable electric hovercraft to market.

Kinley Systems

Kinley Systems manufacture and supply high-quality landscaping systems to landscape architects, general architects, developers, contractors and designers for garden and urban landscapes.  

Falcon Coffees

Falcon Coffees is a green coffee trading company that builds collaborative supply chains for mutual profit and positive social impact.

Envorem

Envorem are on a mission to drive environmental change through technology, they are developing the most environmentally responsible solution to deal with the disposal of oily sludges.

Absolar

Absolar provides intelligent carbon reduction planning and solar feasibility analysis for local authorities and businesses.

Fuelling the hydrogen economy

As part of our Environmental Masters Student Placement scheme, a University of Brighton postgraduate student worked with local initiative Hydrogen Sussex to map the opportunities for hydrogen use in heavy freight and the public sector across the region.

Easy Ceiling

Easy Ceiling design, manufacture and install stretch ceilings – a lightweight suspended ceiling system that clips into a perimeter track. We helped them with product testing, UK innovation funding, and peer business support.

Lankelma work in the pre-construction sector and wanted to embed sustainability into the heart of their business.

Love Lane Brewing

Love Lane Brewing needed to find a more sustainable way to deal with waste from brewing beer.

Bulky Bob’s were on a mission to find the most environmentally-friendly way to deal with discarded mattresses.

FREDS is a service platform that provides a fast and simple way to perform building energy simulations, and help choose the most appropriate building components and systems during early design stages.

Medisort

Medisoft collects, processes and disposes of healthcare waste in the southeast of England, including single use instruments, sharps, medicinal waste and absorbent hygiene products.

Airhead

Airhead is a start-up that is developing an air pollution face mask for cyclists, offering enhanced protection against harmful particulate matter and gases.

Judge Sampson

Judge Sampson company worked with the University of Brighton to secure a Management Knowledge Transfer Partnership (mKTP), a three year business transformation project that gives the company access to funding to employ a high-calibre graduate and access to university expertise.

Used Kitchen Exchange

UKE (Used Kitchen Exchange) is a multi-award winning disruptive business who specialise in the re-sale of used (second hand) and ex-display kitchens.

Business Edge

Business Edge work on disruptive technology that removes the need for oil to be used in air conditioning compressors. Initial tests on a small compressor showed impressive energy savings of up to 40%.

The Florrie

Faced with an overheating problem with their building, The Florrie approached Liverpool John Moores University to help them find a solution.

Akro Valve Ltd supply flow control valves and water distribution systems that deliver precise units of flow.

Ambiental Environmental Assessment

Ambiental Environmental Assessment use complex data and sophisticated computer modelling to predict flood risks.

Zedify

Zedify uses zero-emission electric cargo bikes to run a delivery network around cities across the UK.

BCMY

BCMY Ltd re-use and recycle used printer cartridges. They’d hit a growth ceiling and needed a new IT system to take them to the next level.
