Airhead

Airhead is a start-up that is developing an air pollution face mask for cyclists, offering enhanced protection against harmful particulate matter and gases.

Product testing and improvement

Airhead worked with our South West hub in Portsmouth to evaluate how their innovative reusable face mask could be improved, validated and commercialised to encourage cycling in polluted cities. The team supported Airhead in securing an ERDF EMphasis3 grant to improve their technology and the Brighton hub facilitated an academic consultancy analysis of the airflow of their technology.

R&D grant

The Brighton hub is now working with Airhead to discuss further funding and R&D support to optimise the product, potentially via an ERDF KEEP + application. The company have raised over £350k via a crowdfunding campaign and plan to launch the product to market at the end of 2020.

Access to lab testing and funding

“We’re so grateful to have met the team at Clean Growth UK. The support the programme has provided for us as a start-up has been incredible – in particular, the access to laboratory testing and funding opportunities has been game-changing for the business. We hope to continue working alongside Clean Growth UK in the future and that other businesses will have the chance to benefit from their support as we have.”
